Description
This new non-waterproof tactical boot is based on the original AKU Pilgrim M2 DS and provides a supportive and stable platform for Combat High Liability duties in desert and hot terrain. Breathability and quick drying are unsurpassed thanks to the AKU developed AIR8000 fabrics and Sanifit lining that allow air to permeate and water to drain freely.
Upper: The uppers are made from Air 8000, making the Pilgrim DS Combat 11 times more breathable than traditionally constructed fabric boots. This is achieved by laminating the lining fabric to the nylon face fabric using micro dot net glue which uses adhesive in a matrix pattern to ensure maximum breathability and structural integrity. Other manufacturers use a complete layer of glue to stick the lining to the outer, this effectively blocks up the fabric and greatly reduces breathability. The face fabric is a tough 3D woven nylon constructed with a raised and increased surface area which provides outstanding abrasion resistance. A leather bi-cast rand provides further protection. The combination of these technologies allows the Pilgrim DS Combat to breathe superbly and still remain hughly durable.
Midsole: The key to the comfort and support of the Pilgrim DS Combat is the tried and tested AKU Internal Midsole System (IMS) which uses an anatomically shaped 3D midsole that mimics the natural foot shape. Normally midsoles are flat and offer no support to the foot, only dictating the stiffness of the boot. With an IMS 3D midsole the foot is cradled in a relaxed position, therefore, reducing fatigue and minimising foot movement. Above the IMS midsole is a layer of high-density EVA, this protects the user from loading forces particularly when carrying heavy packs and provides a layer of protective support for foot rather than it resting on a hard material. Below the IMS midsole is a thicker layer of high-density EVA which absorbs impact forces from the ground.
Liner: Sanift is a quick drying and anti-bacterial lining that actively wicks moisture (sweat) away from your foot for increased comfort in hot conditions.
Footbed: Custom Fit IMS featuring anatomical support, breathability, moisture management and quick drying.
Outsole: This new DS Combat features a Vibram Black Nitrile sole unit that makes it more resistant to fuels, chemicals, oil and acids. The Nitrile sole also provides improved resistance to high temperatures whilst still providing grip and stability across a wide variety of terrain.
